My name is Sarah M. Grissom, and I’m a real time special effects artist. Currently, I work for FXVille in Seattle, WA.

To see some of my work in action, you can check out the following games:

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition – Third person zombie-survival horror video game, HD version re-released on Steam and on Xbox One.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Action RPG set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
Hex TCG – MMO trading card game. Originally developed by Cryptozoic with Gas Powered Games, it went to Kickstarter where it got loads of funding!
– Super Hero Squad Online – Free to Play, Kids MMO, Marvel, what else is there to say?
Age of Empires Online – Free to Play, RTS, Latest installment of the Age of Empires series. Sadly, as of 2014, the servers have officially been shut down.

I was born and raised Seattle area and attended DigiPen Institute of Technology, where I graduated in 2010 with a BFA in Production Animation. My first gig in the real world was an internship with Digital Kitchen, working on commercials for Nickelodeon, Microsoft Game Studios, Les Schwab, and BMW. The Amazing Society under Gazillion is where I got my start in video games, combining 2D and 3D techniques using Unity for Super Hero Squad Online. From there, I went to Gas Powered Games where I got the opportunity to work on Age of Empires Online, Hex the trading card game, and Project Spark (very, very briefly). I learned how to use different proprietary tools, continue working with Unity, and even do some pre-rendered vfx work. Since then I’ve been at FXVille – a fantastic special effects studio filled to the brim with talent. We get to work with all sorts of companies, using all sorts of tech, servicing a variety of real-time effects needs. My shipped titles thus far include Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and State of Decay: Year One Special Edition. I’ve worked on a few more projects, but they are all super secret.
